The bow tie is a variant of the tie that appeared in the 19th century. It is made of a strip of fabric tied in such a way as to form two symmetrical loops at the level of the shirt collar and recalling the shape of a butterfly. It takes its name from the famous Madame Butterfly (butterfly in French).
