A little history on the name Hatteras

The Hatteras cap most likely comes from the state of North Carolina in the United States of America. Indeed, Cape Hatteras is an advance of island land on Hatteras Island, one of the islands of the Outer Banks barrier on the east coast of the United States. This area is well known for its storms and shallow waters and many ships have run aground there, to the extent that it is nicknamed the Graveyard of the Atlantic

The very famous American brand Stetson has brought this shape back into fashion, to the point of making it one of the most famous in its collection.

A vintage hatteras cap by stetson, the hatteras burney cap is the most famous but Stetson also proposes the hatteras hatteras cap in tweed in goatskin leather, linen, patchwork. This hatteras shape dates back to the 1920s in the United States of America. This hatteras cap in leather stetson thus takes again the forms of the caps 1920 / 1930.

Unlike its cousin, the traditional Irish cap, the Hatteras cap has a slightly high cap because of its back basque, but also a smaller and less wide top which is less overhanging on the sides. In addition, its more advanced visor is often curved.

Like the hats, Hatteras caps have a very nice finish in high quality materials and are available in many variations
