Massoud fabric pakol for men and women. Authentic pakol from Pakistan. The pakol is used by the freedom fighters of Afghanistan; this hat, as we've seen in the media, is widely worn there.
Traditional wool hat. The wearer rolls the base of the hat to create the desired fit and pattern. Color: slight variations of tan/camel/light brown depending on dye spell. Size: one size fits all (like a woman's beret) extends over her head and is modified by rolling. It keeps the head warm, wears comfortably and easily to shapes you direct.
A little history for the Pakol hat
The pakol is a woollen Afghan hat (these hats are handcrafted, and can be made from sheep's wool or even goat's or camel's hair). The inside is often lined with a cotton cap to prevent the wool from scratching the scalp. The shape of the pakol can be adapted by rolling the border more or less tightly.
The pakol is the most popular hat among the men of northern Afghanistan.
It originally comes from the Afghan-Pakistani border area to Nuristan and northern Pakistan: Chitral.
A Pashtun ethnic hat made popular among Tajiks by the Northern Alliance and its leader Ahmad Shah Massoud.
This hat is said to be a legacy of Alexander the Great's passage; he was the first Greek king to wear the kausia, a hat with a similar shape.
This hat appears on coins, statues, paintings and mosaics of the period.
About pakol Noir
- Size: approx. 56/58 cm
- The diameter of pakol can vary for two reasons: it's not an industrial product, and adding pieces of fabric or thin strips increases the size of the border roll.
- The pakol is rolled using the knee; the size of the pakol can be adapted to each person's head size.
