The iconic hat of Indiana Jones: a famous brand

Since the beginning of the Indiana Jones saga in 1981 with "Raiders of the Lost Ark", the character played by Harrison Ford has made an impression with his legendary adventurer look. Among the iconic accessories that make up this style, we of course find the whip and the hat. But what is the brand behind this elegant headwear? That's what we're about to discover...

In 1980, two Americans walked into the shop of milliner Herbert Johnson, located at 13 Old Burlington Street, Mayfair, London. They introduced themselves as Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford. Spielberg announced that he was about to make an adventure film with his friend Ford in the lead role. The film, titled Raiders of the Lost Ark, would feature a character named Indiana Jones, an archaeology professor recognizable by his distinctive hat. The shop owners enthusiastically agreed to participate in this project, which Spielberg described as having the potential to make history in film accessories. The hat chosen for the film was Herbert Johnson's classic model, 'The Poet', a wide-brimmed felt hat. Manufactured by the company since the 1890s, this model is renowned for its elegant and timeless silhouette, making it the perfect choice to embody the iconic image of Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones' hat: an inseparable symbol of the character

In each of the films in the series, including the latest installment titled "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" released on June 28th, we find this inseparable hat worn by the hero during his adventures around the world. This fedora hat, brown in color and adorned with a fabric band, is not only functional in protecting Indy from the elements, but also very elegant and adding a touch of mystery to the character. It has become a true symbol of the saga and an integral part of Indiana Jones' image.

The brand behind Indiana's latest hat is: Fernández y Roché

Located in the province of Seville, the Fernández y Roché factory, situated in the industrial polygon of Salteras, employs about sixty people and has been manufacturing high-quality hats since 1885. Its 138 years of experience allowed this company, in 2008, to create Indiana Jones' hat for the fourth film in the saga: "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".

A Spanish factory located in the industrial zone of Salteras, Andalusia, is responsible for manufacturing Indiana Jones' famous hat. The brand Fernández y Roché has specialized in headwear since its creation and was therefore chosen to supply the iconic accessory of the archaeologist hero. Nostalgia lovers of the saga can even obtain an exact replica of the original hat in certain specialized stores.

The success of the Indiana Jones saga over the years

With five films to its credit and continued success, the Indiana Jones series never ceases to impress audiences and critics alike. The latest installment, "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny", was no exception, topping the North American box office upon its release, with 60 million dollars in revenue in Canada and the United States in just one weekend.

Harrison Ford, the eternal Indiana Jones

Despite being 80 years old, Harrison Ford continues to shine in his diverse roles, notably thanks to his performance in the fifth installment of the Indiana Jones saga. The actor is also present in other projects, such as the series "Shrinking" broadcast on Apple TV+ or the film "1923", a spin-off of the successful series "Yellowstone". His portrayal of the famous explorer still earns him as much success and recognition from the public.

Indiana Jones and his iconic hat continue to fascinate viewers, and the Fernández y Roché brand is proud to be associated with this cinema legend. The Indiana Jones saga still has a bright future ahead, and fans are eagerly awaiting the famous archaeologist's future adventures.
