THE LITTLE GUIDE TO HAVING A PERFECT HAT 

When you want to invest in a beautiful hat or other headwear, the dilemma arises of determining which one will be most appropriate for your desires, styles, and face shape. Since we have a website and it's not possible for you to try on different hats before buying them, we offer you some advice on how to choose well.

We obviously recommend, if you have the opportunity, to visit one of our two stores in Roanne and Saint-Etienne, where our team will be delighted to help and guide you further. If this is not possible, here are some recommendations for choosing the accessory you need!

Step 1: Know your face shape

To choose the right hat, you must first determine the morphology of your face, just like with clothes, it's about knowing which style will be most appropriate to enhance your features. However, it's not always easy to know, firstly, what the exact shape of your face is, and then which accessory would be best suited to fit you like a glove.

There are no less than 8 different face shapes in total, however, here we will focus on the 4 most common shapes. So if you have an oval, round, square, or heart-shaped face, this article is for you!

Some examples of face shapes 

The Oval Face

An oval-type face is often 1.5 times longer than it is wide. The lines narrow proportionally from the forehead to the chin. An almost perfect shape, allowing you to wear anything.

The Round Face 

You have a rounded forehead and jaw, as well as a certain width at the cheekbones. A face full of softness that can be refined with the right headwear. 

The Square Face

A face with a wide forehead and a jaw of the same length. A character-filled shape that goes very well with rounded hats. 

The Heart-Shaped Face

The heart-shaped face is: a wide forehead and a narrow jaw with a chin that can sometimes be pointed. A shape as long as it is wide for a rather rectangular face. 

Small tips: play with contrasts: if you have a rather thin face, opt for hats with small brims, and for round faces, we recommend wide-brimmed hats to elongate your face.

Step 2: Define the hat shape likely to suit your face 

Each face shape suits several hat shapes, some are more suitable than others, even if your desires and tastes are obviously to be taken into account.

In terms of choice, don't worry, you'll have plenty to choose from, whether it's a fedora, trilby, or bowler hat, you'll be spoiled for choice!

Now that you know the exact shape of your face, it's up to you to choose your hat based on your preferences and, of course, on which one will be best suited to enhance your features.

 Step 3: Measure your head circumference to choose the right size 

You now know the shape of your face as well as that of the hat that will enhance your features the most. But a hat that suits you is above all a well-fitted hat. It is therefore essential to take the right measurements to ensure you have the exact size.

For this:

1. Get a tape measure to measure your head.
2. Place it around your head at the middle of your forehead and at the level of the bump at the back of your skull. 
3. Then refer to the diagram below.
4. And there you have it, all you have to do now is choose your hat!
