A few tips for washing your cap

Like berets, never put your cap in the washing machine.

To clean the grosgrain (inner band), use a cloth dampened with soapy water (or water with ammonia) and rub gently.

Once you've gone all the way round the cap, rinse the cloth with clean water and wipe over the inner band again to remove all traces of soap. Leave to air dry, and you'll find your cap as good as new for your day's work or outings.

For more general cleaning, you can fill a pan with cold water and add a few drops of ammonia. Leave for a few minutes, then rinse the cap with cold water. Then dry it at room temperature, away from a radiator. It will then look as good as new.
