gendarme's bicorn
Gendarme hat. The hat is a Bicorne. This bicorn was worn by the Gendarmerie in 1805. It is made of woolen felt and of French manufacture.
Since the tricorn hat and then the bicorn, the Gendarmes have long remained faithful to the kepi. Nevertheless, the uniform was redesigned in 2004 to provide the gendarmes with new, more practical uniforms. In this new uniform, a cap replaces the kepi which is only used for representation missions.
