Leather hat care - 3 solutions
1- talcum powder
Dust the stained area with talcum powder using a brush or shaving brush. When the talcum powder has completely absorbed the oil stain, simply dust it off. You can repeat this process several times to remove the stain.
2- Ammonia
Remove the grease stain with a cloth soaked in barely diluted ammonia. For ammonia, it's best to perform a preliminary test using a cotton swab moistened with ammonia on a hidden area, like the inner edge. If color appears on the cotton swab or if the fabric is altered, dilute the ammonia.
3 - Marseille soap
Rub the grease stain with slightly damp Marseille soap to form a kind of crust on the leather. Then let the soap work for about 30 minutes. Then emulsify.
