The Niçois hat as well as the capeline are both chef's hats that have very large brim.
This makes them perfect accessories to protect yourself from the sun and give a romantic touch to any outfit.
The cape has a difference compared to the hat niçois; it is very flat and straw and especially without cap.
The capeline, it can be made of straw, leather, fabric ... a material often flexible that makes its edges undulate. Another difference; the Nice hat is crossed by a ribbon tied under the chin to keep it on the head.
This hat is part of the traditional costume of Nice since at least the 18th century. Attributed to the costume of the "bouquetière niçoise", it is often decorated with flowers.
A very popular headdress initially made of rice straw from Piedmont and braided with very fine hemp threads. Then natural rice straw from China was used.
The women of Nice rotate their hats following the path of the sun. When there is no more sun, they drop the hat on the back or hang it on the lower back.
