Made in France, the small Phrygian cap, with its embroidered cockade, is the symbolic cap of the French Revolution.

Small Phrygian cap: the hat of the French Revolution

A symbol of freedom, the small Phrygian cap is worn for costume balls, theatrical performances, and during demonstrations.

The Phrygian cap is a symbol of freedom due to its resemblance to the cap worn by freed slaves in the Roman Empire, in fact its name means "cap of liberty".

It is also the hat of the French Revolution, worn by Marianne, the allegorical figure of the Republic. The tricolor cockade is embroidered on this hat.

This is a small version of the Phrygian cap, without the long ear covers.

The small Phrygian cap is a hat made in France by the Traclet hat shop.
