The Phrygian cap is a symbol of freedom because of its resemblance to the cap worn by the freed slaves of the Roman Empire, and its name means"cap of freedom"
It is also the hat of the French Revolution, topped by Marianne, the allegorical figure of the Republic. The tricolor cockadeis embroidered on this hat.
It is a small version of the Phrygian cap, without the long earmuffs.
The small phrygian hat is made in France by the Traclet hat factory.
