If you can't keep your hat in a dry place, regular use of the enlarger will help.
To store the hat
- Place enlarger in bonnet
- Enlarge the enlarger to the desired size
- Place the 2 wooden parts inside the hat, level with the label. They must be parallel to the fold, in the crown of the hat.
- Tighten the handle to adjust the enlarger to the size of the hat. Your headgear is ready for storage and won't be damaged!
To increase hat size
- Repeat the previous steps.
- Use a teapot/pan to boil clean water. Reduce the heat to ensure a constant flow of steam.
- Holding the hat enlarger by the handle, apply steam directly and evenly to the cap.
- Turn the screw to the desired size while applying steam. Don't stretch the hat too much at once! 1/4 of the size is enough.
- Let the hat dry for about 30 minutes before removing the enlarger. Repeat until the hat is the desired size.
