Massoud Pakol which can also be written as Packol or Pacole

This hat comes from the Asian steppes and Caucasus, Afghanistan. A traditional cap with a cylindrical shape and rolled edges forming a rim, made of wool cloth, mainly worn by Pashtuns.

The pakol is used by Afghan freedom fighters, this hat, as we have seen in the media, is widely worn there.
This hat is made of traditional wool. The wearer rolls the base of the hat creating the desired fit and pattern.
Color: Slight variations in tan/camel/light brown depending on the dye lot.
Size: one size fits all (like a women's beret) stretches over the head and is modified by rolling.
It keeps the head warm, wears comfortably and easily takes shapes that you direct.

Pakol: a bit of history:

The pakol originally comes from the Afghan-Pakistani border area around Nuristan and Chitral.
This ethnic Pashtun hat was made popular by the Northern Alliance and its Tajik leader Ahmad Shah Massoud.

It is the most popular hat in Northern Afghanistan.

The diameter of the pakol can vary for two reasons: it's not an industrial product and by adding pieces of fabric or thin strips, the size of the border roll can be increased.
The pakol is rolled using the knee and thus can be adjusted to fit your head size.
