Gendarme bicorne
Gendarme Hat. The hat is a Bicorne. This bicorne was worn by the Gendarmerie in 1805. It is made of wool felt and manufactured in France.
Since the tricorne hat and then the bicorne, the Gendarmes remained faithful to the kepi for a long time. Nevertheless, a redesign of the uniform was initiated in 2004 to provide the gendarmes with new, more practical uniforms. In this new uniform, a cap replaces the kepi, which is now only used for ceremonial duties.
