A headwear steeped in history, handcrafted from 100% wool felt in France. This hat is a bicorne, which was originally designed for equestrian purposes. It's the hat shape that replaced the tricorn for convenience reasons in the 1770s; and would itself be replaced later by the top hat. Its origin is often associated with Napoleon I but it actually originated a bit earlier during the revolutionary period.

The appearance of the hat and how it was worn varied according to the times and fashion. However, it seems that the soldier generally wore it "in battle", meaning sideways, unlike the officers who wore it front to back. The bicorne was abandoned in the army in 1806 and replaced by the shako or bearskin cap. Only the general staff, administration, generals, marshals, and off-duty officers continued to wear it.
A magnificent bicorne handcrafted in Germany, which adheres to the codes and traditions of the era, for a true journey back in time!
