Anarchy Embroidered Beret - Traclet
According to the authors of the book "Circled A, True History of a Symbol", this sign dates back to 1964.
It is a capital "A" surrounded by a circle. The ends of the typographic character touch or extend beyond the circle. The A represents the first letter of the word anarchy (or anarchism) in many languages, making it an internationally recognizable symbol.
In order to "find a more practical and faster way to minimize the time and length of signature under texts and slogans." A symbol as quickly identifiable as the cross, the swastika, or the hammer and sickle. The circled A has the advantage of being easier to execute. However, it wasn't until after May 1968 that it spread and became commonplace worldwide.
