In the second half of the late 19th century and early 20th century, the boater became the quintessential men's summer hat. Women eventually adopted it after 1950... Currently, many children wear boater hats for ceremonies. The scene from Renoir's famous painting "Luncheon of the Boating Party" featured this headwear. The way of wearing the boater was codified, and fashion dictated that it should be worn slightly tilted forward and angled over the ear.
A genuine high-quality boater hat made of triple-thickness sewn straw. It also features a plain black grosgrain ribbon (which can be changed according to your wishes and needs), as well as an interior salpa grosgrain band (reconstituted leather) to make it more comfortable to wear. The boater is a straw hat with narrow brims and a flat crown; fashionable in the early 20th century, appreciated by cyclists and sportsmen in general.

Au départ surpris par la consistance des trois épaisseurs de paille très denses, puis agréablement surpris par son côté fonctionnel et son ergonomie. Il est parfait.

Très beau canotier à l'ancienne, avec beaucoup d'allure. Mais, compte tenu du prix, on aurait aimé que le gros-grain ait été mieux ajusté (c'est heureusement facile à corriger) de même que le bandeau intérieur. Une doublure en toile, comme la plupart des modèles d'époque en avaient, aurait aussi été bienvenue (j'en ai fait une). Bref, un chapeau de très belle facture, bien loin des canotiers bon marché et informes qu'on rencontre partout, mais avec des finitions qui ne sont pas tout à fait à la hauteur de sa qualité.

Le stetson est super, mais le canotier en triple paille n'est pas assez large (en largueur) par rapport à la longueur. Le premier canotier que j'ai acheté il y a 2 semainesétait parfait. Pourqui cette difference?
