Stetson Hatteras Cap - Its Manufacturing

Since 1885, Stetson has offered a wide range of models that all meet quality and innovation requirements. A Stetson cap is the guarantee of a quality product, with refined finishes and unmatched comfort.

Today, let's see how the Hatteras cap is made! Presented in an 8-panel design, it features a visible band and a three-point stitched visor. The Hatteras has become a true legend, and Stetson's model is certainly the flagship reference. The famous brand has indeed updated this shape, with varied forms, materials, and colors. To obtain this authentic model, Stetson workshops follow a rigorous manufacturing process:

The choice of raw materials

No good caps without quality materials! Stetson carefully selects the materials that will make up their models to ensure comfort and durability. For impeccable feel and comfort, the brand works with carefully selected suppliers.

The cutting

The fabric then passes through the expert hands of Stetson's workshop seamstresses. They follow a pattern based on the famous Hatteras, available in several sizes to fit most head sizes.

The assembly

The different parts of the cap are then assembled. The crown is sewn first, with its 8 sides topped by the famous button at their junction. The interior lining and sides are then added. Finally, the seamstresses complete the model by adding the visor sewn onto the cap's crown.

The shaping

The final step consists of finalizing the model's shaping. The cap is placed on a wooden form to give the fibers the desired shape. It then undergoes a steam treatment so that the fabric perfectly adopts the contours of the form. This treatment ensures better durability, for a headwear that will last many years.

Finally, the remaining small elements are added, such as the logo. The caps are then ready to be sold! You can see all these steps in the video "Making of the Stetson Cap"
