Reducing your cap size
Are you between two cap sizes? Don't panic, it's possible to modify it without having to sew. First, know that you cannot use cork inserts, as it's not possible to put them on a cap (unlike hats). We rather recommend slightly wetting the entrance of your cap with slightly warm water and letting it dry in a warm environment. However, be careful not to use water that's too hot, or place the cap in an environment that's too warm (next to a radiator for example), as this could cause it to shrink significantly. The ideal would be to wet it and let it dry on your head so it adapts to your head shape. This way, the cap will naturally shrink.
Enlarging your cap size
First, steam the cap and use a wooden stretcher which is essential for stretching the fabric and enlarging it a bit more if it has shrunk. Place the stretcher with the conical wooden blocks against the leather or fabric band to absorb moisture and maintain the proper shape and size of the hat when stored. Once in the hat, use the screw to stretch it gently to avoid cracking the seams. This hat stretcher is made of two cedar wood parts. It can enlarge both caps and hats.
