Since 1930, Panama hats have covered the heads of many famous men, notably Theodore Roosevelt who wore one during his visit to the Panama Canal construction site, helping to make this Ecuadorian hat style known. The making of a Panama hat, when handmade, depending on the fineness of the work and the thickness of the fibers, can take several hours or even several weeks of weaving.
This hat is very flexible and can be rolled or folded for transport. It is also handmade in Ecuador using 100% toquila fibers.
