Ecua-Andino has been offering Panama hats for 20 years and has developed a community project with villagers in Ecuador. This project aims to reactivate the weaving and ethical trade of hats. Since then, the villages have been reviving, traditions are being passed on and, above all, updated.
In July 2010, you may have seen a television report about Dona Rosa (Mrs. Rosa Salinas) and the Sig-Sig Cooperative: "Asociacion de Señoras tejedoras del Sig-Sig (Association of "weaving ladies" of Sig-Sig). These are, of course, the artisans who weave the Ecua-Andino Panama hats.
