Ecua-Andino has been offering Panama hats for 20 years and has developed a community project in Ecuador with local villagers. This project aims to revive the weaving and ethical trade of hats. Since then, the villages have come back to life, traditions are being passed on and above all brought up to date.
In July 2010, you may have seen a television report about Dona Rosa (Mrs. Rosa Salinas) and the Sig-Sig Cooperative: "Asociacion de Señoras tejedoras del Sig-Sig (Association of "women weavers" of Sig-Sig). These are of course the artisans who weave the Ecua-Andino Panamas.
