This hat comes from a plant growing in the lowlands of Manabí.

Here is a superb Panama that will grace your sunny days; it is the result of long sun-drying of young Carludivia Palmita palm fronds.

It is exclusively this straw that provides this exceptional structure.

Since 1881, the quality and care given to its manufacturing have made it the most famous hat in the world. It is a very light hat that can be adjusted thanks to its inner grosgrain. It is the most elegant hat, a great classic that will protect you from the sun's rays.

Caring for your Panama hat

The toquilla palm contains a certain degree of moisture, depending on its thickness, which gives it its flexibility.

When the hat is exposed to a humid atmosphere (example: beach without sun) the palm absorbs excess moisture and expels it when the atmosphere is drier. This process weakens its structure over time. This is why the first models with wider palm don't last more than two years with significant climate changes. The extra-fine Cuenca and Montecristi don't have this problem because they use finer palm and denser weaving.

To increase the lifespan of your hat, here are some care instructions:

Do not let your hat come in contact with water. The palm acts like a sponge.
In case of incident, let the hat rest in the shade for the time needed to release excess moisture. - Do not leave your hat in a closed space in direct sunlight (like the rear window of a car).
The fiber dries too quickly and the hat may break over time. - Don't apply too much pressure on the same spot when handling it.
The point of the fedora shape (Borsalino style, front part) is always the most fragile area and over time the palm will break. It is recommended to hold your hat by the wings (sides), from underneath. You can easily steam iron your hat.
