TRIESTE
The traditional Panama hat
A panama hat in a borsalino style, made in Panama straw, natural straw enhanced with a black ribbon.
This hat comes from a plant originating from the lowlands of Manabí.
Here is a superb Panama hat that will brighten your sunny days; it is the result of a long drying process in full sunlight of young palm leaves from the Carludivia Palmita.
It is exclusively this straw that provides this exceptional hold.
Since 1881, the quality and care given to its craftsmanship have made it the most famous hat in the world.
It is a very lightweight hat that can be adjusted thanks to its inner grosgrain. It is the most elegant hat, a timeless classic that will protect you from the sun's rays.
In our stores or when ordering on our website, we can customize your PANAMA hats by simply changing the ribbon to the color of your choice. Finally, it is also possible to add screen printing or embroidery on the ribbon and to offer entry-level panamas depending on the quantities requested.

Care for your Panama hat
The toquilla palm contains a certain degree of moisture, depending on its thickness; which gives it its flexibility.
When the hat is exposed to a moisture-saturated atmosphere (e.g. a beach without sunshine) the palm leaf absorbs excess moisture and releases it when the atmosphere is drier. This process weakens its structure over time. That is why the early models with a wider palm leaf do not last more than two years with significant climate changes. The extra-fine Cuenca and Montecristis do not have this problem as they use a finer palm leaf and a denser weave.
To extend the lifespan of your hat, we offer you here a few care tips:
- Do not expose your hat to water. The palm leaf acts like a sponge.
- In the event of an incident, let the hat rest in the shade for as long as necessary to release this excess moisture. - Do not leave your hat in an enclosed space in direct sunlight (e.g. the rear window of a car).
- The fiber dries too quickly and the hat risks breaking over time. - Do not apply too much pressure on the same spot when handling it.
- The tip of the fedora shape (Borsalino style, front part) is always the most fragile area and over time the palm leaf will break. It is recommended to grab your hat by the brim (sides), from underneath. You can easily iron your hat with steam.
