Wool felt hat; a top hat with a very large grain. Handmade in France; this hat dates from the 17-18th century. The name Diafoirus is used by Molière in his play "Le malade imaginaire". Diafoirus is the doctor talking like a scientist, using unknown words. He uses this especially to hide his incompetence in a speech that nobody can understand.
