Girondin hat in French wool felt.
A hat shaped like a top hat, but with a high crown about 18 cm narrower than at the base. This galurin has a very wide ribbon and a buckle; this hat also has a low brim.
This hat is from the revolutionary era but dates back to the 17th century. This hat was adopted by the GIRONDINS, but above all by the Commissaires de la Révolution.
It's also the hat worn by 19th-century POSTILLONS.
