Panama: 100% natural fibers of "Palmata Carludovica", hand-woven in Ecuador. Available color: natural ecru
A delightfully "promenade" feel with this "Paseo" hat! That doesn't stop this hat from being an authentic panama, crocheted to give it a very contemporary cloche-hat look...
Its photograph traveled the world, helping to make this Ecuadorian hat known as the Panama.
The Panama has graced the heads of many famous men, such as Ernest Hemingway, Winston Churchill, Harry Truman, Paul Newman and Alberto Santos-Dumont.
The Panama is very flexible and can be rolled or folded to be carried in a box. Today, this hat, crafted in various styles and shapes, is worn by men, women and children all over the world.
Experience the legend of the authentic Panama!
Panama Ecua-Andino. It has developed a community project to promote hat-weaving activity in the coastal region of Simón Bolívar (Ecuador): regular visits to villagers to purchase hats at fixed prices in dollars, raising awareness of the importance of product quality.
Currently, a weaver working eight hours a day can earn enough to feed their family.
In this region, for decades, villagers no longer wove hats, but only prepared the leaves of palm trees growing on their own land to ship them to Montecristi and Cuenca for weaving.
Since the launch of our project, elderly people have begun to show new generations the art of hat weaving and the number of weavers is constantly growing.
Likewise, they have learned to crochet with these fibers — our new "Hippie" model is the only Panama that is not woven but crocheted, made exclusively in the Simón Bolívar region.
Thanks to our customers around the world, we have laid the foundations of a new economic development in the rural coastal sector of Ecuador.
