Storing and handling your hat

Tips on handling hats:

The secret to a long-lasting hat lies in its handling.

  • Never handle it with dirty hands (especially greasy hands). Indeed, this is a sure way to quickly damage it by leaving stains.
  • Always pick up your hat from underneath, at the front and back of the brim to maintain its shape.
  • The hat stand is the ideal support to maintain the shape of your hat. It also allows for good maintenance and facilitates handling.
  • If you don't have a hat stand, avoid placing your headwear on flat surfaces, especially if they have a curved edge.
  • Avoid hanging your hat on a coat rack or you'll end up with a dent in your hat.
  • Similarly, we advise you to turn up the brim of the hat when you set it down to avoid deforming it. Or alternatively, you can let it rest upside down (on its crown). If we take the example of trilbies with lowered front brims, it's best to keep them on the crown to avoid having a hat with a deformed front part. Deformed parts are often due to poor storage and sometimes impossible to straighten out.

With these guidelines, you will be able to keep your hat in good condition and it will remain as beautiful as it was on its first day.
