The origin of the hat

The first traces of hats date back to antiquity. The Greeks and slaves of Ancient Rome wore them while Egyptian pharaohs placed the pschent on their heads as a crown. Since then, the hat has crossed centuries in different forms and has evolved to meet various uses. While initially reserved for men, it began to be adopted by women from the 16th century. The hat was then worn during walks, with military uniforms, as a sign of social class, or on official ceremonies. In recent decades, it has only served to protect from the sun or rain, but it has continued to come in many variants.
