The Bucket Hat, a super trendy accessory?

Who would have bet that the bucket hat, or by its real name, the Bucket Hat would become a super trendy fashion accessory? Let's start with a little general knowledge; the origin of the term Bob comes from a nickname given by French soldiers to American soldiers (who were the first to wear this headgear), les Roberts, whose diminutive is simply Bob. Basically, this hat was designed with only practicality in mind. Indeed, it was first used in the 1940s by soldiers, to protect their heads from the sun in the desert; but also by glider pilots, since this hat offers the advantage of not only protecting from the sun, but also maintaining very good visibility, unlike a classic visor, which will slightly hinder vision.

After World War II, this hat went out of fashion, not to say became completely "uncool" ... until now. It has indeed been revisited by many brands and has been adopted by the "street" style with streetwear and skatewear. The bucket hat is slowly but surely gaining ground in the fashion world, and it wouldn't be the first time that a so-called "has-been" product becomes a must-have. The recent trend of always trying to stand out from others has been a factor in the development of the bucket hat and many celebrities have started wearing it. Whether it's models like Gigi Hadid and her sister Bella, or very popular singers like Rihanna and Justin Bieber, who at the 2014 Coachella Festival, accompanied by rapper Chance The Rapper, wore a Neff brand bucket hat and caused a stock shortage of this product. But before that, there were some singers like Tupac, Pharrell Williams, but also actors like Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas who also adopted this hat. In short, it could well be that the bucket hat completely stands out and becomes more and more a trendy and essential summer accessory.

The advantage of the bucket hat is also that it suits all generations, young or old, everyone wears it or has already worn it. Man or woman, it doesn't matter either, so you can steal your partner's (if he or she agrees of course)! Often available in one size fits all, it can pass from one head to another without too much trouble. It is particularly appreciated by parents for its practicality, as it stays easily on children's heads without bothering them and can be transported everywhere and easily washed. Generally also appreciated by children, the bucket hat will protect their head and face from the sun, while pleasing them.

A bucket hat for winter 

As explained earlier, the bucket hat was originally made to protect from the sun. But given its celebrity, it quickly conquered the winter season. For the coldest, there are models with ear flaps for warmth that can withstand anything!

For comfort and softness in all circumstances, we adopt the bucket hat in faux fur or faux hair, to keep the head warm. Very trendy, we know the iconic Bermuda model from the British brand Kangol, which so well represents streetwear fashion.

For a winter model, the wool bucket hat is also recommended. It's often the exterior that's made of wool so that the head is not in direct contact, to avoid itching, because yes, wool can be scratchy! But how to wear it?

As far as we're concerned, wear it as you like! You can play on the offbeat aspect and wear your bucket hat with a very chic outfit, yes yes we assure you the result is not so bad, look below! Like with a suit or just a blazer jacket. After that, we agree it's a bit more "daring" but it also allows you to break the strict side of your outfit.

Otherwise, the simpler the better! You can wear it with jeans and a simple t-shirt or even with a dress if you like. For a more streetwear outfit, you can play the total relaxed look, with rather loose and sporty clothes.

And if you're not really comfortable with this look and your bucket hat is only used to hide your hairstyle or face, and you run into acquaintances, remember that it's very easy to fold and discreetly store it in a pocket or bag!

The bucket hat would therefore seem to be indeed a fashion accessory in its own right but it's also synonymous with a way of living and dressing that is both casual and trendy.
