Typical hat from the Alsatian region made of wool felt of French manufacture. This headwear has slightly raised edges all around. This hat can also be made in fur felt.
Hat worn by men, particularly in the Colmar region, and popularized by Hansi's engravings.
Originally, the hat's crown was round with wide brims variously raised using velvet ribbons and cords, it was worn with the point forward in Kochersberg, point to the left in the Wissembourg region, as a tricorn or only at the back, which is the most typical style.
