Fabric and perspiration - Cleaning

With warm weather and heat, it's common to find sweat stains on your everyday hat. To prevent the fabric from being permanently stained, it's necessary to quickly treat unwanted marks.

We recommend washing your cotton, nylon, or hemp hat frequently, as sweat stains can become embedded in the fabric. Indeed, once sweat penetrates the fabric, it can cause color changes. Unfortunately, there is no universal method to remove these sweat stains, as perspiration contains many chemical elements and its composition varies from person to person.

What you need to do is prevent sweat from settling into the fabric, as it can eventually cause the fabric to rot and decompose. Consequently, wash your cotton, nylon, or hemp hat frequently, just as you do with all your clothes.

We recommend using ammonia (3 tablespoons) diluted with cold water (1 liter), you can completely soak the hat and use a soft or medium-stiff brush, or even a toothbrush, to scrub the stained fabric. Rinse the hat in cool water, reshape it, and let it air dry. Warning, do not use bleach!

You can also use ready-made care kits that are easy to use.
