Chinese hat

A Chinese hat is a conical hat with a wide brim often made from dried plants and used by farmers in the Far East and Southeast Asia. Currently, it is also made from rush, finished straw or bamboo. It provides protection from the sun and rain during fieldwork.

It is surely called a Chinese hat because it was first seen by Westerners in China. However, this does not necessarily mean that it originated there.
