It would have been imported into Siberia during the invasions in the Middle Ages. Symbol of power in Russia, a chapka is traditionally offered to leaders when they take power. Once made exclusively of natural furs, they are nowadays also offered in synthetic fur. This unisex hat has been very fashionable since the early 2000s.
